Haiti
In the fall of 2001, GlobeMed organized a shipment of 300 basic health care items to the needy people of Haiti , the poorest country in the western hemisphere. The shipment went to Milot, about 12 miles from Cap Haitien . Items were collected, assembled into individual-size health kits, and shipped to the Hospital Sacre-Coeur, maintained by the Center for the Rural Development of Milot (Crudem). Founded in 1968, Crudem consists of this 64-bed general hospital, a staff of six physicians, a dentist, and a supply of volunteers.
